Fun fact: Jerry Uelsmann, film photography professor at the University of Florida, split his students into two groups.

Group 1: Quantity Group

Group 2: Quality Group

Group 1 would solely be rated on the amount of photos submitted. The more photos this group submitted to better their individual grades would be.

Group 2 would only need to submit 1 picture during the semester, but they would be graded on the quality of that photo. The image had to be picture perfect to get an A.

At the end of the term, the professor was stunned that the best photos were all taken by the quantity group.

Takeaway: While the quality group were obsessing about perfection, the quantity group got more reps helping them improve one photo at a time.

Quantity teaches quality.

The faster you work, the faster you can get more reps in—the faster you get better at your craft.
