It is unfortunate that you still value degrees so highly. From my experience most people don’t learn sh*t in college. I’d much rather see what work they did last weekend instead of what they did years ago in college. If Google can pack the same value of a 4-year degree in 6 months, let’s save everyone a sh*tload of time.

So, if I see a Google career certificate next to a Stanford/UCLA/NYU degree with a great portfolio of work, I’d invite both in for an interview and evaluate them equally, and from my experience, most of my colleagues working at Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Netflix, etc. would do exactly the same thing.
